Five years ago, UNESCO defined value-based heritage interpretation (VBHI) to meet the challenges of the 21st century. ![]()
Interpret Europe decided to support this initiative. It revised its mission and aligned its training programme with this approach. ![]()

Thorsten Ludwig (Germany), MSc Interpretation, worked in a national park until 1993, when he founded Bildungswerk Interpretation as his own company to provide interpretive training and planning. As IE Managing Director (2015-2021), he worked with UNESCO on the development of VBHI.
